My Version of Fantasy

Fantasy is a truly limitless genre, but what I found—whether it be in movies, t.v. shows, video games, books, etc …–was that a lot of fantasy kind of felt like every other fantasy, just with different named characters. I know there is nothing truly original under the sun, but I felt like the genre could do better. I was tired of seeing orcs, elves, vampires, chosen ones, dark lords with no purpose other than being evil. You know, all the common fantasy tropes. Seeing elves for the thousandth time instantly reminded me I was not in an authentic feeling world. I felt like I’d been there a dozen times. I wanted something more.

‘Familiar but Fantastic.’ That’s what I aim to create. These common tropes are relied upon because it is easier for the reader\watcher to settle in. It’s all a familiar setting. But I believe you can have both. You can make it easy for the reader to settle into your world/story, while keeping truly new and original concepts, character archetypes, etc … This is my goal, and I truly believe I’m off to a good start. I hope you’ll dive into the introductory novellas or just jump into the main book (it includes both introductory novellas.) So, if you’re looking for unique and complex antagonists, compelling characters, a magic system that appears simple on the surface—but clearly stretches much deeper, and a lore unlike anything you’ve ever read, I think I’ve got you covered. 😉
